Profibus PA (Process automation) fulfills the request of the process industry and can be used for the intrinsically safe and not intrinsically safe area. The DP version (decentral peripherie) is for fast data exchange in the field of building and manufacturing automation.

2. Installation and Wiring Precautions

  • Mechanical Connection

    • It is recommended to use an elastic soft coupling between the encoder shaft and the user’s output shaft to avoid damage to the encoder’s shaft system due to misalignment or runout.

    • Pay attention to the allowable axial load during installation.

    • Ensure that the difference in axial position between the encoder shaft and the user output shaft is no more than 0.20 mm, and the deviation angle of the axes is less than 1.5°.

    • Avoid knocking or dropping the encoder during installation.

  • Electrical Wiring

    • Do not reverse the power and ground wires.

    • The ground wire should be as thick as possible (generally larger than φ 3).

    • Do not allow the encoder output wires to overlap each other to prevent damage to the output circuitry.

    • The signal lines should not be connected to a DC or AC power supply to avoid damage.

    • The motor and other equipment connected to the encoder must be well-grounded to prevent static electricity interference.

    • Use shielded cables for wiring, and check all connections carefully before starting the machine.

    • For long-distance transmission, consider signal attenuation and choose an output mode with low output impedance and strong anti-interference capability.
