Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) is point-to-point so slaves cannot be bussed together. SSI is uni-directional, data transmission being only from slave to master. It is therefore not possible for a master to send configuration data to a slave. Communication speeds are limited to 2 Mbits/sec.Many SSI devices implement double transmissions to improve communication integrity. The master compares the transmissions to detect errors. Parity checking (Appendix) further improves error detection.SSI is a relatively loose standard and many modified versions exist including the option for an incremental AqB or sin/cos interface. 8. Additional Information / Notes

  • Installation Requirements:

    • An elastic soft coupling should be used between the encoder shaft and the user’s output shaft to avoid damage to the encoder shaft system caused by serial movement or runout.

    • Pay attention to the allowable axial load during installation.

    • The difference in axial positioning between the encoder shaft and the user output shaft should not exceed 0.20 mm, and the angular deviation from the axis should be less than 1.5°.

    • Avoid knocking, collisions, or drops during installation.

    • Do not reverse the power and ground wires.

    • The ground wire should be as thick as possible (generally larger than φ3).

    • Encoder output wires should not overlap with each other to avoid damaging the output circuit.

    • The encoder’s signal lines should not be connected directly to DC power or AC current to avoid damage.

    • The motor and other equipment connected to the encoder must be well-grounded to prevent static electricity damage.

    • Use shielded cables for wiring to ensure strong anti-interference capability.

    • Check the wiring carefully before starting the machine.

    • For long-distance transmission, consider signal attenuation and select an output mode with low output impedance and strong anti-interference ability.

    • Avoid use in strong electromagnetic interference environments.
