    Draw wire sensor measures linear movement and displacement using a highly flexible steel cable. The cable drum is attached to the sensor element which provides a proportional output signal based on the measured distance. Our draw wire sensors have compact design with easy and flexible mounting for integration into machinery. They can also be easily customized to fit in high volume applications in OEM.

    Our range of draw wire sensors offer quasi-infinite resolution with maximum measurement range of up to 50m. They provide long-term reliability and operational stability even under harsh ambient environment as they are manufactured from high quality components. Users can choose between analog or digital output depending on their measuring requirements.

    Draw Wire Measurement Principle

    Draw wire displacement sensors measure linear movements using a highly flexible steel cable. The cable drum is attached to a sensor element which provides a proportional output signal.Measurements are performed with high accuracy and high dynamic response, and the measuring drum is axially coupled with a multi-turn potentiometer, an incremental encoder, or an absolute encoder, thus, a linear movement is transformed into a rotary movement and then converted into a resistance change or into countable increments.The use of high quality components guarantees a long life cycle and high operational reliability.

    With a draw-wire sensor, a linear movement is transformed into a rotary movement. The free end of the wire is attached to the movable body. An optional eyelet at the free end of the wire can be screwed onto or attached to the measurement object. The rotary movement produced by drawing out the wire is converted into an electrical signal using a rotary encoder. A spring motor provides sufficient pre-tension of the wire. The spring motor is a coil spring with torque load, similar to those used in mechanical watch mechanisms. The further the wire is drawn out, the higher the tensioning force of the spring. In horizontal mountings, this has the benefit of minimising wire sag.

    Dimensions

    Note:

    ▶Adopt elastic soft connection shall be applied between encoder shaft and output shaft of user end to avoid damage of encoder shaft system due to serial movement and run out of user shaft.

    ▶Please pay attention to the allowable axle load during installation.

    ▶Make Sure that the difference Between Axial Degree of encoder shaft and user output shaft shall be no more than 0.20mm, and the deviation angle with axis shall be less than 1.5 °.

    ▶Try to avoid knocking and falling collision during installation;

    ▶Do not connect the power line and the ground wire in reverse.

    ▶The GND wire shall be as thick as possible, generally larger than φ 3.

    ▶Output lines of encoder shall not be overlapped with each other to avoid damaging output circuit.

    ▶Signal line of encoder shall not be connected to DC power supply or AC current to avoid damaging output circuit.

    ▶The motor and other equipment connected to the encoder shall be well grounded without static electricity.

    ▶Shielded cable shall be used for wiring.

    ▶Before starting the machine, carefully check whether the wiring is correct.

    ▶During long-distance transmission, the signal attenuation factor shall be considered, and the output mode with low output impedance and strong anti-interference ability shall be selected.

    ▶Avoid using in strong electromagnetic wave environment.
